Warm White Roofline and Reindeer Display in Easton
The project
For this residential project in Easton, Connecticut, we used warm white lighting to emphasize the home’s symmetrical roof structure and traditional exterior. C9 bulbs follow the lower eaves, outer roof edges, front entrance gable, and attached garage, creating continuity across the full width of the property. A lighted wreath with a red bow highlights the main entrance, while mini lights add subtle illumination to the foundation shrubs. Three white reindeer figures arranged across the front lawn extend the display beyond the architecture and create a central seasonal scene. The warm white palette complements the light-colored siding and keeps the overall design clean and traditional.
The challenge
This Cape has three front dormers, a center entry gable, a lower garage wing with its own dormer and a steep main roof. The dormers break the roof into short runs, and the garage roof sits lower than the main house, so the outline changes height several times across the front.
How we lit it
We traced the main eaves and rakes of the house, outlined each dormer on all sides, and followed the entry gable and the garage wing at the same spacing in warm white C9 bulbs. A lit fir wreath with a red velvet bow hangs in the entry gable above the front door, the one accent at the center of the facade.
At the foundation, the rounded shrubs to the left of the steps are wrapped in warm white mini string lights, which brings light down to ground level on that side. On the lawn, three lit white reindeer form a scene at the center of the yard, and a small lit tree marks the side door.
The result
At dusk the house reads as a clean white outline with the dormers standing out against the roof, and the wreath marks the entrance. The lit shrubs add a low band of light that balances the roofline on the entry side.
